Sorich Park Pedestrian-Bicycle Shared Trail

The Town of San Anselmo's Town Council approved a proposal to change the designation of Sorich Trail to a multi-modal trail shared by pedestrians and bicyclists. This will connect San Anselmo to Marin County Open Space and San Rafael.

Background

  • Summer 2024: Town of San Anselmo along with Marin County Open Space began evaluating a proposal for a multi-modal trial (which accommodates pedestrians and bicyclists) to connect San Anselmo to Marin County Open Space and San Rafael.
  • The Town held three public engagement meeting for discussion & consideration (August 19, 2025- Planning Commission, September 5, 2025 - Community Meeting, September 24, 2025 - Town Council Meeting)

Next Steps:

  • Marin County Parks will be conducting biological assessments and trail evaluations through the summer of 2025.
  • Based on the results of these studies, any changes to trail use and an updated timeline will be established.
  • Marin County Parks will continue to keep the Town of San Anselmo informed of all developments.
  • At this time: bicycles remain prohibited on this trail.
